Chickpea and Kale Burgers

Ingredients: Makes 5 

Patties

  • 1 tin of chickpeas, drained

  • 1 cup of blanched kale or raw silverbeet leaves (de-stemmed)

  • 1 onion, quartered

  • 4 tbsp sunflower seeds

  • 2 tbsp veg oil

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp chilli

  • 1 tsp curry powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 cup bread crumbs (or stale bread)

Extras

  • Soft buns

  • Tomato

  • Guacamole

  • Siracha Mayo

  • Vegan mayo

  • Shredded cucumber

  • Beetroot

  • Caramelised onion

  • Basil

  • Or whatever salad and sauces you have in the fridge!

Method:

  1. Add all ingredients to a food processor and pulse until it comes together and is well incorporated.

  2. Ideally use a Tupperware burger making kit to form their shapes, otherwise put roughly 2 heaped dessert spoons of the mix in you hand and flatten.

  3. Fry in a little veg oil and serve with vegan cheese melted on top, tomato, lettuce, caramelised onion, vegan mayo and chutney or sauce of your choice.
